It’s crazy how many different cleaners there are for literally E-V-E-R-Y-T-H-I-N-G, the truth is companies will try to sell us as much stuff as they can. We take a super simple approach to cleaning at home and I wanted to share a few of the things we use to clean our house.
My #1 favorite all purpose cleaner is Dr. Bronners Sal Suds, its different than the regular ones that can be used on your body. This one is just for household cleaning, and we use it on anything and everything. For dishes we have a standard 16oz glass bottle that we fill up 1/4 of the way with the concentrated soap, and slowly fill the rest up with water. Be slow when filling so the soap doesn’t suds up! For scrubbing, we use the natural bristel brushes from Redecker and love them! We just end up taking off the handle. The brushes we get can be found by clicking HERE
For Laundry we use 1 tablespoon of straight Sal Suds for each load. Thats it! We do keep white vinegar in the house for windows and will occasionally add a 1/2 cup to the wash when the kitchen towels get a little stinky. Now what about stains? My husband is a MASTER when it comes getting stains out and has found the secret! We use undiluted Sal Suds and put it directly on the stain and let it dry overnight, then wash the garment and watch the stain disappear. This has worked with a grape juice stain on a pair of brand new white sneakers and even with turmeric!
We also use the diluted dish soap solution for:
I purchased a large bunch off all cotton towels at the thrift shop and we use those with a little water and soap to do you basic cleaning.
We buy this in the 1 gallon size since its the same size that most stores order for their liquid bulk. At home we keep the smaller container and fill up for easier use. Your can find the soap online HERE . It is a little pricey but 1 gallon lasts us over 6 months! You might even be able to find it in bulk or order it at your local health food store.
We also will keep a supply of baking soda for cleaning tough stains like the oven, bathtub, and sinks.
*For those curious about what we clean our floors with we use a Bissel steam mop we found secondhand and it only uses water and works great! Note, we only have wood floors in our house.
